BEDWETTING ALARM AND PROGRAM

SLEEP DISORDER RESEARCH CENTER

Bedwetting is caused by a deep sound sleep and this type sleep prohibits the person from waking up to the bladder signals. To correct the bedwetting problem permanently the deep sleep needs to be corrected, and corrected in a way that the deep sleep pattern does not return later. Through many years of research and development Sleep Disorder Research Center has found that many methods and ideas that are offered today do not really change the sleep pattern permanently. Medicines prescribed by doctors do not change the sleep pattern. They only attempt to change the persons metabolism by using nedicines. There are not only side effects to this treatment, but even if there are some positive effects, once the meds are stopped, the body goes back to what is normal and the wetting begins again. The real problem, which is the deep sleep disorder, has not been changed. Many different alarms offered today do not change the deep sleep. The proof of this is the high relapse rate of the bedwetting problem with parents who have used the little alarms.  We know many parents have purchased some little alarm device hoping this will be the answer to the bedwetting problem. Only later to find that an alarm, any alarm, without the proper personal counseling and instructional program will fail and end in discouragment and frustration. We know this because so many of the parents who enroll their child in our program have tried them and they did not correct the bedwetting.

To achieve a permament correction of bedwetting, our research has shown the absolute need for certain methods.  These include therapy and behavior modification techniques, then there is the need for individualized personal instructions, the critical need for counseling to overcome the difficulties that arise during the correction process, and the definite need for specifically designed equipment that will bring about a change in the deep sleep pattern.

This is what you receive when you enroll and purchased our program. Initially you receive the special alarm system, you receive all the necessary beginning instructions, you receive the report sheets along with stickers for the younger children. This is only the beginning package. Dr. Goupil is available to help you with any questions or difficulties you may have. You will be receiving personal counseling and instructions as you proceed through the correction process.

The following pictures will illustrate just how our equipment achieves results other devices do not.

The system is pictured on a queen size bed, however, this works great on a double and single size bed as well.

This equipment is used for children, as well as adults. It is sturdy enough for adults, and flat enough to use for a child. The matt is about the size of a pillow, but flat. there is a plastic matt on the bottom to protect the mattress. The matt is built with spring wire around the edges to keep the matt in shape over long periods of use. The mart here is pictured laying on a queen size bed, however it is designed to be used on a double or a single size bed. The matt sounds an alarm box that sets on the night stand where the battery is located. This system is battery operated, it does not plug into a wall outlet, so there is no possibility of electric shock.

This matt is called the moisture sensing matt. There are two screen matts to this sensing matt. The screen is fine copper screen to avoid any corrosion from the acid in the urine. A pillow case will be placed over the top screen. It should slide down over the screen and the excess should be tucked in under the end of the matt.

What we know is when the sleep environment is changed, the sleep pattern also changes, at least temporarilly until the sleeper becomes used to the change. The matt on the bed changes the way the bed feels. This change in the way the bed feels is actually changing the sleep environment. So the matt on the bed performs a very important and necessary part of the correction process. Not only is this matt used as a moisture sensing device, but it is also used to bring about a quicker change in the sleep pattern. This quick change in the sleep pattern will give an open window to bring about a quick process of changing the sleep, and the program will further develop this change and make the new way of sleeping a pattern for the rest of the person life. To achieve a quick and necessary change in the deep sleep pattern, the matt is a very important and necessary tool.

When the alarm sounds from the wetting, the person is given instructions to follow that will also help in effectively changing the sleep. The work to clean up the matt is called behavior modification work. The bedwetter has to turn off the alarm.  So when the alarm sounds, the parent goes into the room and if the child is still in bed sleeping, we show the parent how to bring up the child out of the deep sleep. The child turns off the alarm, then cleans up the matt. the pillow case is removed, the matt is dried off with a towel, then a dry pillow case is put on the matt, the alarm is reset, and the child goes back to bed. This whole routine is used to being about a further change in the deep sleep pattern. That is why it is called behavior modification therapy. It effectively changes the sleep behavior.

There is much more to the program, but this page should show just how important using the correct equipment and correct tools are. Without these methods and tools the bedwetting will not be properly corrected. When we mention a proper correction, we are referring to a correction that will last a life time, not just something temporary. A child who suffers from bedwetting suffers enough without have to go through the agony of seeing the wetting stop, and then see it all come back a week or so later.

SDRC's extensive research has helped develop a complete program that includes all the necessary ingredients for a proper correction. If you have tried other methods and have seen them fail, do not give up. And don't think that all programs are the same. They are not. This program has been developed from research and successful corrections, over many years of work. There are many people who attempt to immitate things we use in our program, but they do not use the correct tools, and do not have the experience.

We can correct the deep sleep bedwetting. We guarantee this program.
